School Procedures

Our school day begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:15 p.m. 

Buses begin to arrive at 7:35 a.m. A bell will ring and all children will be allowed into the building at that time. No children will be allowed in the building before 7:35 unless they are with their parents. Unfortunately, we do not have adult supervision available until 7:35 a.m. If you are dropping your child off in the morning, please be respectful of our teachers and not drop him/her off before 7:35. Thanks for your support with this issue. 

If you must drop your kids off before 7:35, please contact our School-Age Care (SAC) program at 651-403-7516 and make arrangements with them. 

You will receive a separate mailing from the transportation department regarding bus information and schedules.

Guardians are encouraged to send children to school with printed information regarding their name, phone number, address, which letter of bus they ride and their bus stop. Please familiarize your child with his/her bus stop prior to the first day of school.

Students may ride their bike to school, parents are encouraged to accompany their children, especially children in grades kindergarten to second.

Riding the bus is a privilege — not a right. Appropriate bus behavior with respect for the driver and other student riders is expected from all Moreland students. Students who do not follow bus safety rules may be denied transportation. When/if that happens, parents will be asked to transport their children to and from school. Please carefully read the “School Bus Policy” outlined on the District's website. 

Please mark your child’s full name on all personal belongings: such as supplies, shoes, boots, mittens, sweaters, jackets and lunch boxes. Every year many items in good condition are left unclaimed at school and are donated to area charities. Our lost and found is located by the exit doors leading to the bus loop. Please check it often.

Electronic devices are not allowed at school. This includes, but is not restricted to: cell phones, CD players, CDs, MP3 players and pagers. If it can’t be used to learn, it should not come to school. If you child does bring one of these items to school, they will be asked to give it to Principal Quinn. Your child can get their device back by having their parents come to school and pick it up.

Because Moreland Arts & Health Sciences Magnet School focuses on teaching students how to live a healthy life, we encourage our students to eat healthy snacks and to celebrate their birthday in a healthy way. 

Safety is a top priority for our school. At Moreland, we welcome families and volunteers. All visitors (parents, guardians, short-term substitute teachers, volunteers, contractors, vendors, etc.) coming to school at any time must enter through the main office doors during school hours. All other entrances to the building are locked and are not entrances for visitors.

Anyone wishing to visit the classrooms, school library, or volunteer during the school day must come to the main office to sign in. Using our iPad sign in device in the main office, visitors will have their picture taken and wear a visitor badge during school hours. Visitors will be asked to come back to the office to sign out and leave through the main office doors. All regular volunteers must follow this process throughout the school year.
